CORINTH and BLUE HILL – Peter L. Duren, 58, died suddenly July 23, 2006, at a Bangor health facility. He was born Aug. 10, 1947, in Blue Hill, the son of Elmer and Dorothea (Dow) Duren. Peter graduated from George Stevens Academy in 1965, served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and then attended the University of Maine at Bangor. He was a counselor for the Downeast correctional facility and a long haul trucker. Peter loved carpentry and was a member of the Lions Club of Machias. He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Connors) Duren of Corinth, formerly of Orono; one son, Zachary Duren, and one daughter, Christine Duren, both of Old Town; three step-children, Michelle and her husband, John Dustin, of Saco, Mark McKee of Boston and Michael McKee and his wife, Kristin, and stepgrandson, Connor McKee, all of Southwest Harbor; two sisters, Ruth Gray of Norwalk, Conn. and Maurice Gordon of Blue Hill; stepmother, Eleta Duren of Lubec; stepsisters and stepbrother, Dawn Gallagher of Campobello Island, Karen Cooke of Woodland and Sonny Daren of Calais; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Kent Duren and Dale C. Duren and one sister, Jeannene D’Amico. Private interment will be at Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.
