SEVERNA PARK, Md. – Peter Wayne Lechman, 58, died suddenly at home after a brief illness, Dec. 15, 2003. Previously of Bowie and Silver Spring, Md., Mr. Lechman was born Feb. 5, 1945 in Columbia Falls. He was a 1963 graduate of Aliquippa High School in Aliquippa, Pa. He later attended the University of Maine and the University of Maryland. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1966 to 1968. He was a self-employed electrical contractor specializing in communications. He was involved with several radio stations in the Harrisonburg, Va. area and most recently was a partner in WBOP in Harrisonburg. He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing golf, was an avid blueberry grower and loved returning to all of his high school reunions. He is survived by his wife, Paloma Lechman who were married Feb. 14, 2002, in Las Vegas, Nev.; one son, Leslie P. Lechman of Severna Park, Md.; one daughter, Valerie S. Lechman of Bowie, Md.; two sisters, Sue A. Clay and her husband, John A. Clay, of Beaver, Pa., Delores “Lou” Butler and her husband, Patrick Butler, of Las Vegas; four nieces and one nephew. His first marriage to Judy Smoot of Arlington, Va., ended in divorce in 1978. The family will receive friends 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 106 Shamrock Road, Chester, Md., where funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. Interment will be private at a later date in Columbia Falls.
