OAKFIELD – Philip A. Branscombe Sr., 79, died Jan. 28, 2008, in Houlton. He was born Oct. 14, 1928, in Smyrna Mills, the son of Roy and Cora (Kelly) Branscombe. Phil was a potato and cattle farmer most of his life. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Geraldine (Leighton) Branscombe of Oakfield; three children, Cindy and her husband, Marvin Collier, of Oakfield, Philip Branscombe Jr. of Oakfield, and Robert Brans-combe of Sarasota, Fla.; five stepchildren, David and his wife, Mary Grant, of Houlton, Sheila Tyrrell of Orono, William and his wife, Bernadette Boulier, of Dyer Brook, Trudy and her husband, Chris Bates, of Merrill, and Micky and his wife, Kim Boulier, of Crystal; 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Velma Albert of Gardiner and Phyllis Greenlaw of Oakfield; one brother, Jack Branscombe of Bangor; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Genie and Arthur Gove, and Rita and Burpee Hilton. He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Betty Shields and Ruth Goodwin; and a brother, Merlin. The family thanks the staff at Gardiner Health Care Facility for their care and compassion. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday with Pastor Sterling Lawrence officiating. Spring interment will be at Oakfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the charity of ones choice, care of Bowers Funeral Home, P.O.
