VAN BUREN – Philip A. “Noir” Gagnon Sr., 70, died April 29, 2005, at a Bangor hospital after a brief illness. He was born Oct. 1, 1934, in Van Buren, the son of Sylvion and Ledwine (Vaillancourt) Gagnon Sr. He was employed as a farm foreman for Wilfred Cormier, a local potato grower and shipper, for many years and later worked in the construction trades. He was an Army veteran. Philip is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joan (Lausier) Gagnon of Van Buren; two sons, Philip Gagnon Jr. and his wife, Joyce, of Van Buren, Howard Gagnon and his wife, Mona, of Waterville; one daughter, Doreen Thibodeau of Ingersoll, Ontario; nine grandchildren, Amanda, Crystal, Nickolas, and Shania Gagnon, all of Van Buren, Megan and Myra Gagnon, both of Waterville, and Amy, Stacy, and Kelly Thibodeau, all of Ingersoll, Ont.; five brothers, Merrill Gagnon of Durham, Armance Gagnon of Lewiston, Stanley Gagnon and Charles Gagnon, both of Van Buren, Gilman Gagnon of Salem, N.H.; six sisters, Linda Bard, Rosemarie Searles, Armance Doucette, and Joan “Soeur” Lapointe, all of Van Buren, Alexina Cyr of Lisbon Falls, and Marie Senese of Bridgeport, Conn. He was predeceased by one brother, Sylvio Gagnon Jr.; and by one sister, Rita Bellefleur. Relatives and friends may call at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Grande Riviere Cemetery later this spring.
