PHILIP E. NORTON ADDISON – Philip E. Norton, 59, was called home to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer Sept. 23, 2005, at his home in Addison surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 29, 1946, in Calais, the son of Woodrow and Helen (Robbins) Norton. He attended the Addison schools and later graduated through the Narraguagus High School Adult Education Program. For 33 years, Phil owned and operated Norton’s Garage, which later became Phil’s Auto. In 1999, his goal of having a 3-bay fully equipped auto repair shop and used car sales business was successfully accomplished. Phil was often seen racing his many self-built race cars in Deblois and at Winterport. He was a member of the Jonesport Masonic Lodge No. 188. He was a driver for the Petit Manan Ambulance Service. He is survived by his wife, Christy (Parker) Norton, of Addison; a son, Curtis Norton and his friend, Bridgette Betters, and her daughter, Santana, of Addison; a very special granddaughter, Rianna Lynn Norton, of Addison and Cherryfield; two brothers, James Norton and his wife, Ellen, of Addison and Richard Norton and his wife, Rose Marie, of Addison; one sister, Nancy Grant-French and her husband, Vernon, of Columbia; a mother-in-law, Sherry Kelley, of Milbridge; the mother of his granddaughter, Tammy Norton, of Cherryfield; a brother-in-law, John Parker, and his friend, Pat Alley, of Jonesport, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and special friends.
