PHILIP GALEN O’BRIEN JR. BUCKSPORT – Philip Galen O’Brien Jr., 59, died Jan. 15, 2004, and was reunited with his ultimate best friend and canine companion, Molly. He was born July 8, 1944, in Castine, the son of Dorothy T. (Grindle) and Philip G. O’Brien Sr. He was a member of the Church of God, Bucksport, the Felicity Masonic Lodge No. 19 AF&AM, Bucksport, the Anah Temple Shrine, and the United Bikers of Maine. He worked for International Paper Co., Bucksport, as a rigger, retiring from Champion Paper Co. after 27 years. Phil was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, being in the outdoors, going for drives, sightseeing, and traveling. He also enjoyed his greenhouses and growing things in the garden, watching the History Channel and A&E, while snacking on special treats and junk food. He was an avid collector of many things including coins and antiques. Phil is survived by his mother, Dorothy T. O’Brien; his daughter, Dawn Manookian; his son, Philip G. O’Brien III and his wife, Melissa; their mother and his special life long friend, Shirley Manookian; three granddaughters, Destiny Marie Manookian, Aarynn Elise O’Brien, and Jaiden Raes O’Brien; his brother, Edward O’Brien; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; special niece, Laurie Seekins and husband, Brian; special great nephews, Brandon and Ryan Seekins; best friend, Kendall Hatch and wife, Karen. He was predeceased by his father, Philip G. O’Brien Sr., in 1997; and his ultimate best friend, his dog, Molly. Visitation for family and friends will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, with Pastor Ken Davenport officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an educational trust fund for Phil’s grandchildren, care of Seaboard Federal Credit Union, 531 Main St., Bucksport, ME 04416.
