MONSON – Philip W. Knight, 79, died Dec. 27, 2004, at his home in Monson. He was born Oct. 4, 1925, the son of Amos and Lillian (Howard) Knight. In his younger years Phil worked for the Monson Narrow Gauge Railroad and at the slate quarries in Monson. During World War II, he served in the US Navy. After the war, Phil worked for Moosehead Manufacturing Company in Monson for more than 30 years. After retiring from Moosehead Manufacturing, he worked at the visitor center at Borestone Mountain. He was a Past Master of the Doric Lodge in Monson and a member of the Columbia Doric Lodge in Greenville. He was a Boy Scout leader, a member of the Monson Baptist Church, and a member of the Monson Historical Society. During the Big Band Era, Phil played in several of the local bands. He is survived by his wife, Bunny (Robinson) Knight of Monson; two sons, Scott Knight and his wife, Lisa, of Abbot, and Peter Knight of Monson and his friend, Marnie Lamson, of Dover-Foxcroft; two daughters and their husbands, Marcia and Ed Martin of Monson, and Cori and Bob Todd of Monson; a sister and her husband, Dorothy and Dr. Philip Thomas of Bangor; six grandchildren, Nathan, Farren, Leslie, Brittany, Aaron, and Emily; several nieces and nephews, a cousin and her husband, Iris and Arthur Freeman of Bangor. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak St. in Guilford, where a Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, at the Monson Community Church, with Pastor David Ray Jr. officiating.
