ELLSWORTH – Phyllis A. Jordan, 79, completed her earthly journey on Dec. 4, 2003. It began with her birth in Canton, Ohio, April 12, 1924, as the daughter of Ruth L. (Pansing) and Chester E. Worrell and ended at an Ellsworth hospital. Phyllis was interested in her community’s affairs, becoming a charter member of the original Junior Chamber of Commerce Auxiliary and was presently a member of the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce. Her strong religious beliefs were rooted in her membership at the First Congregational Church of Ellsworth. She enjoyed her memberships in other local organizations and clubs and valued her relationships with people, but her family was always first in her thoughts and actions and her love for them was unbounded. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Kenneth; a son, Kenneth Jordan Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Chicago, Ill.; a daughter, Debra Day, and her husband, Roger, of Lamoine; two granddaughters, Sarah Jordan of San Francisco, Calif., and Laura Jordan of Hoboken, N.J.; two grandsons, Ryan Day of W. Palm Beach, Fla., and Kenneth P. Jordan of Portland; a great-grandson, Aidan Foley, of Portland; a brother, G. Richard Worrell and his wife, Maryanna, of Media, Pa. The family invites friends to meet with them 6:30-8 p.m. Monday at the Jordan Funeral Home, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, for a time of caring and remembering. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Wood delivering the service. Those who wish to make donations in Phyllis’ memory may do so to the First Congregational Church of Ellsworth, P.O. Box 12, Ellsworth, ME 04605, or to a charity of their choice.
