BANGOR – Phyllis (Hochmitz) Shapiro passed away March 14, 2006, after a brief illness. She was born in Montreal, Quebec, the daughter of Izadore and Sadie Hochmitz. Phyllis and her late husband, Abraham Shapiro owned and operated many businesses in the Bangor/Brewer area, including the Twin City Motel and the Bangor House. She was listed in Who’s Who of America. She is survived by her three daughters, Gerrie Shapiro, Jewel Shapiro, and Elaine and her husband, Dean Beaupain, all of Bangor; two sisters, Muriel Schwartz of Toronto, Canada, Eleanor Klaiman of Montreal; her grandson, Andrew Beaupain of Bangor; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She will also be sadly missed by Israel Laeger, Tim Harvey and Phyllis Wolf. Funeral services will be held noon Wednesday, March 15, at the Jewish Chapel, 118 Center St., Bangor, with Rabbi David Cantor, officiating. Interment will be at Beth Israel Cemetery. Shiva will be observed 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, and 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at the family home, 58 Broadway, Bangor.
