MILBRIDGE and CHERRYFIELD – Phyllis Morse, 94, of Milbridge, formerly of Cherryfield, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, in Ellsworth. She was born June 22, 1913, in Cherryfield, the daughter of the late Onslow and Blanche (Farren) Newenham. Mrs. Morse was a graduate of Cherryfield Academy in 1930. In 1931, she married Reginald Morse. Throughout their early marriage, they traveled following work at local mills, where Reginald was a sawyer. Once settled in Cherryfield, she worked for Wyman’s for many years as a lab technician. She enjoyed mowing her own lawn until the age of 89. She was a very independent woman who enjoyed dogs and cats. At one time, she had 10 cats. She shared 50 years of marriage with the late Reginald Morse, who died in 1981. Family members include a brother, Earle Newenham and his wife, Eva, of Gouldsboro; two nephews, Wayne Newenham and Amos Kelley; a niece, Lucille Null and husband, Bill, all of Gouldsboro; a very special nephew, Carlton Willey of Cherryfield; and several cousins and friends. She was predeceased by an infant son, William Morse; a sister, Mildred Newenham; and a brother, Merrill Newenham. Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Milbridge, with Pastor Ambrose Rolfe officiating. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family 10 a.m. Saturday until the hour of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be held after at Morse Cemetery, Cherryfield.
