ELLSWORTH – Queenie Jesse Gerrish Joy died April 1, 2005, in Ellsworth. She was born April 23, 1920, in Winter Harbor to Gilbert E. and Ethel Gerrish. She graduated from Winter Harbor High School in 1937 and married Theodore R. Joy Sr., in June 1937. They made their home in Franklin. She was a homemaker and mother of three children. In 1964, she began employment at Key Bank, Ellsworth, where she worked for almost 20 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and Ladies Guild, served on the Franklin Historical Society and was Treasurer of the Pine Brook Elderly Complex. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Theodore. She was also predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Audrey, Geraldine, Leroy and James. Survivors include her two sons, David A., of West Jordan, Utah, Theodore R. Jr., of Franklin; and her daughter, Jean Joy Rosenbluth of Reston, Va.; and 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; half brothers and half sisters, William, Priscilla, Samantha and Hiram. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at Franklin Veterans’ Club, Franklin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Franklin Baptist Church Ladies Guild, the Franklin Historical Society, or Robert and Mary’s Place.
