ST. DAVID – Rachel Dionne, 57, died peacefully Sept. 2, 2005, at her home after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born Oct. 9, 1947, in Van Buren, the daughter of Clifford and Rose Dionne. In addition to her mother of Madawaska, she is survived by two daughters, Karen Bright of Hillsboro, Ore., Tammy Girard of St. David; three sons, Richard Girard of Van Buren, Brian Girard of Hillsboro, Ore., Gabriel Girard of St. David; eight granddaughters, one grandson, her siblings, Richard “Joe” Dionne of Madawaska, Jane Michaud of St. Agatha, Gilbert Dionne of Connecticut, Armand Dionne of Frenchville, Nancy Lavertu of Madawaska, Carol Voisine of St. Agatha, Arlene Villeriot and Susan Willean both of Royal Oak, Mich.; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and special friends. She was predeceased by one son, Mathieu Girard in 2003. A Christian burial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday, at the Grand Isle Elementary School. Friends and relatives may call 10 a.m. until noon on Monday, and from 1 p.m. until time of services at the Daigle Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Christian Cemetery in St. David.
