BANGOR – Rachel E. (Clement) Holman, 77, died Dec. 25, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. She was born March 13, 1927, in Orland, the daughter of Jay B. and Doris M. (Maddocks) Clement. She graduated from Cranes Corner One Room School on the Castine Road, Orland, the Higgins Classical Institute in Charleston, in 1944, attended Colby College in Waterville, and entered the Eastern Maine General Hospital School of Nursing, Bangor, in the cadet nursing program, which resulted with a period of working at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital, Framingham, Mass. In Framingham, she met her first husband, Ralph Finnemore, and had her first son, Bryan. They then moved to California where her second son, Charles, was born. She worked for several years at Pacific State Hospital in Pomona, Calif., and attended college at Pacific State where she graduated with a degree in psychology. She later worked at Brotman Memorial psychiatric hospital in Culver City, Calif. as a Psychiatric Nurse. Rachel also married again to Frank Holman and her third son, Matthew, was born. Her last years with Brotman Memorial were spent traveling around the United States and Canada as a nurse recruiter for Brotman Memorial. Following the death of her second husband, she moved back to Maine along with her son, Matthew. In Maine she worked at Eastern Maine General Hospital first in personnel, where she served interviewing personnel for jobs in the hospital, and later worked as a nurse until she retired to care for her mother in her last days. Rachel was a born again Christian and spent many hours doing church work in the many churches she attended, and also enjoyed being the camp cook. Rachel is survived by her three sons, Bryan Finnemore of Bangor, Charles Finnemore of Las Vegas, Nev., Matthew Holman and his wife, Debbie, of Round Rock, Texas; nine grandchildren, Bryan Jr., Joey and Daniel, all of Bangor, Laraine, Veronica, Carla and Jessica, all of Las Vegas, Nev., Ryan and Taylor, both of Round Rock, Texas; sister, Margaret “Peggy” D. Clement of Forest, Va.; two brothers, Millard A. Clement and his wife, Leah, of Orland and Bangor, and John P. Clement and his wife, Shirley, of Cyprus, Calif.; sister-in-law, Bettye T. Clement of Orland; 17 nieces and nephews. Rachel was predeceased by her first husband, Ralph Finnemore; her second husband, Frank Holman; her parents, one brother, Merrill E. Clement. A graveside memorial service will be held in the spring at a time to be announced by the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport.
