GUILFORD – Rachel Ordway, 84, died Jan. 9, 2007, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. She was born March 27, 1922, in Blanchard, daughter of Carl and Nina Blanchard. She was a 1940 graduate of Monson Academy and was employed by the local mills until she married in 1946. Rachel was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary No. 165. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, spending much of her time babysitting with her grandchildren until they became of school age. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting mittens for children and making crafts with her lifelong friends, Muriel Herring and Irene Harrington. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Millard G. Ordway of Guilford; three daughters, Patricia Grotton and her husband, Anthony, of Unity, Pamela Turner and her husband, Dana, of Auburn and Carla Watt and her husband, Scott, of Guilford; two brothers and one sister; six grandchildren, Daryl Wentworth and his wife, Kristen, Lori Aube and her husband, Shawn, Melinda Thomas, Marsha Thomas, Erik Watt and his wife, Kate, and Ian Watt and his wife, Alina; seven great-grandchildren, Joshua Deraspe, Samantha Thomas, Devin Eldrige, Erin Rachel Wentworth, Bailey Anna Wentworth, Megan Adel Wentworth and Natalie Elizabeth Aube; and her dear friend, Verna Clukey.
