MERRILL – Ralph C. Kennedy, 82, of Merrill went home to be with his Lord Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, at Houlton. He was born Feb. 9, 1922, in Moro, Maine, the son of Liston and Ada Bates Kennedy. Ralph served in the U.S. Army during Word War II. He was a member of the American Legion, Frank B. Holden Post No. 52, a lifetime member of the Island Falls VFW, and a member of the Smyrna Mills Methodist Church. Ralph retired from the Maine Dept. of Transportation after 34 years of service. After his retirement he worked as a courier for the Katahdin Trust Co. until the time he became ill. Ralph is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Nadine Lawlis Kennedy of Merrill; two daughters, Penny Nadeau and her husband, Billy, of Merrill, Athlea Hersey and her husband, Linnwood, of Oakfield; one son, Donald and his wife, Lee, of Oakfield; six very special grandchildren, Terri Nadeau Connolly, (Bill) of Merrimack, N.H., Stephanie Hersey Sommers, (David) of Dyer Brook, Robbie Nadeau, (Traci) of Oakfield, Kathy Hersey Bushey (Ryan) of Presque Isle, Secret Kennedy Skinner of Oakfield, and Donnie Kennedy of Old Town. He is survived by seven great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Rochelle, Wyatt and Emma Nadeau, Kaitlyn and Garrett Sommers, Brooke Skinner, Cameron and Calleigh Connolly. He is also survived by one nephew, Brian Kennedy; two nieces, Elaine Willigar and Loreen Kalinowski; a very special brother-in-law, Reggie Lawlis and his wife, Josephine. He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Ray and Leon; one sister, Rena Daggett; and one nephew, Liston Eager (Sonny). Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004 at Bowers Funeral Home in Island Falls where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, with the Rev. Andy Harthorne, officiating. Interment will be at Merrill Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to join the family in fellowship and a luncheon at the funeral home after the service.
