PORTLAND – Ralph H. Wilkinson Sr. died quietly March 18, 2005, after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 4, 1929, in Fall River, Mass., a son of George and Eunice Wilkinson. Ralph was a graduate of Bryant College and pursued a career in insurance investigation with Equifax. A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Ralph served as a forward observer in an artillery unit in the Korean War, retiring as a major. His passions included following his family’s accomplishments, caring for his dogs, world travel and his leisure time in Downeast Maine. A dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, Ralph always considered his family his treasure. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Lucas Wilkinson. He is survived by his brother, Donald and his wife, Gwynn; niece, Sandi and nephew, Scott of Issaquah, Wash.; son, David and his wife, Kelley, of Buckfield, son, Peter and his wife, Alice, of Calais; son, Ralph Jr. and his fianc?e, Samantha, of Georgetown; and son, Andrew and his wife, Regina, of Medfield, Mass.; his grandchildren are Chelsea and her brother, Myles, Rex, Cy, Emily, Honor, Ryan and Hattie. Graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Evergreen Cemetery, Portland. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to the Jimmy Fund/Wild-wood Challenge, memo: Ralph Wilkinson to Andrew Wilkinson, 7 Wildwood Dr., Medfield, MA 02052. The Wildwood Challenge is an annual cancer research fundraiser founded by Ralph’s grandchildren in honor of their grandmother, Barbara L. Wilkinson.
