WEST OLD TOWN – Ralph L. “Sonny” Thurston Jr., 69, passed away unexpectedly June 19, 2007. He was born April 3, 1938, in Old Town, the son of Ralph Thurston Sr. and Ethel Smith. Sonny loved animals. He hand fed his donkey, Henry for years. He also enjoyed woods work with his son, Ron and blueberrying with Anita. Sonny will be remembered for smoking his pipe and enjoying his rocking chairs. He was predeceased by his parents; stepson, Christopher Ewer; and sisters, Melva, Doris and Gloria. Sonny is survived by his companion, Anita Ewer of West Old Town; son, Ron Thurston and his wife, Deanna, of Hudson; daughter, Deborah Hall of Bangor; son-in-law, Robert Hall of Hudson; stepchildren, Charissa Pattershall and Joel Ewer; grandchildren, Kayla, Brandy, Megan, Molly, Mathew, and Christopher; great-grandson, Adrian Webb; sisters, Norma, Maxine, Phyllis, and Janice; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 21, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 22, at the funeral home.
