BROOKLIN – Raymond Carter, 97, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Island Nursing Home, Deer Isle, April 16, 2004. He was born Feb. 28, 1907, in Brooklin, the son of John P. and Bertha (Ford) Carter. He worked at the Hurd Funeral Home in Sanford, the Brown and Sharp in Rhode Island, Bristol Brass and was a bus driver for the town of Brooklin for several years. Raymond was best known for his many yard sales. He was a member of the Brooklin Baptist Church and the Ira Berry Masonic Lodge No. 128 since 1931. He is survived by a sister, Susie McEwin of Penobscot; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Marietta; two brothers, Frank and Harry; two sisters, Faith Pert and Eva Cole. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. April 20, 2004, at the Brooklin Baptist Church. Interment will be at the Brooklin Cemetery. Those who desire may make contributions in Raymond’s memory to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements made by Healey Funeral Home, South Street, Blue Hill.
