MORRILL – Raymond Francis Patterson Jr., 66, passed away Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, surrounded by his family. He was born in Erie, Penn., the son of Ruth (Smith) Patterson and Raymond Francis Patterson Sr. He graduated from the University of Maine – Orono in 1975 and worked at Penobscot County Sheriff Department from 1974 to 1976. He served in the Maine Air National Guard before transferring to the Arizona National Guard. While in the service, Raymond was awarded the Purple Heart, Air Force Commendation and Achievement, Small Arms expert, Meritorious Service, Navy Good Conduct, as well as many others. In 1998, he retired from the National Guard and moved back to Maine. Raymond enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting and life in general. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Raymond Patterson III; and a sister, Shirley Shawgo. Raymond is survived by his wife, Kathleen Ann Patterson of Morrill; four children, Bob Patterson and wife, Becca, Sherry Wood and husband, Chuck, Shawn Patterson and Lisa Black and Vince Walko; a sister, Myra Jean Howard of Arizona; 11 grandchildren, Jessica, Taylor, Hannah, Sarah, Ashley, CJ, Stephanie, Casey, Josh, Kaliegh and Vincent; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Dot; and two nephews, Eddie Shawgo and Patrick Shawgo. At Raymond’s request, services will be private at the convenience of the family.
