MILFORD – Raymond N. Boyington, 83, passed away July 1, 2008. He was one of 12 children born to Arthur R. Boyington and Nettie Grant Boyington. He was a lifelong resident of Milford. Raymond, in his early years worked in the woods logging; he also worked as a contractor building roads for James Sewall Co. Raymond was also an avid harness horse racer who raced all throughout the state. He and his wife, Joyce, enjoyed attending all the State Fairs. He was a blacksmith who invented the Boyington Control Bit for horses. Ray also was a Maine guide, making trips with many professional baseball players along with his dad. After Ray retired, he loved all of the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling and ice fishing. He also had a passion for restoring antique cars, especially Model T’s. Raymond married Joyce Brown in 1956, and they were married for 51 years. Raymond is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce Boyington of Brewer; his sons, Michael and his wife, Nancy, of Monroe, Robert and his wife, Christine, of Glenburn, Stephen and his wife, Raynette, of Bangor, Bruce and his wife, Lisa, of Milford and Daryl and his wife, D’arcy, of Hampden; his daughters, Linda McLeod and her husband, Joseph, of Old Town and Cindi Cox and her husband, Ralph, of Hampden; and his grandchildren, Aaron, Abbie, Amy, Bruce, Christopher, Ellie, Fred, Holly, Jed, Jenny, Jessy, Jill, Maria, Nick, Ryan and Scott. Ray is also survived by many great-grandchildren. He is survived by three sisters, Virginia Tibbetts of Farmington, Lottie Moulton of Pea Cove and Donna Rustin of Milford. He was predeceased by his parents; six brothers, Charles of Nashville, Tenn., Earnest of Milford, Donald of Milford, Carl of Milford, Maurice of Cardville and Bobby of Milford; and two sisters, Frances McLaughlin of Bangor and Goldie Arsenault of Hartford, Conn. Raymond’s family gives a special thanks to the Orono Commons Staff for all the wonderful care and compassion that Ray received during his time there. The family will receive friends and family 10-11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where a funeral service will begin 11 a.m. Services will conclude with interment at Greenbush Cemetery, Cardville Road, Greenbush.
