DEER ISLE – The Rev. Cecil R. Robbins, 87, went to be with his Lord and Savior May 16, 2008, at Island Nursing Home, Deer Isle. He was born Dec. 22, 1920, in Deer Isle, the son of the late Horace and Ruth (Thompson) Robbins. Cecil attended Deer Isle schools and graduated in 1949 from Jubilee Bible Institute, Newport, where he met and married his loving wife, Winnie. A lobster fisherman, he retired in 1982. He was ordained in Full Gospel Ministerial and Church Fellowship, and volunteered as a minister for Island Nursing Home for 15 years. Cecil was a friend to all and generously gave of himself. He was a devoted husband and “Best Daddy of All” to his children. Cecil was a wonderful Christian, never waivering in his faith and loved sharing it with others. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Winnifred (Rafford) Robbins; his two devoted daughters, Jane Robbins-Teel and her husband, Brad Teel, of Veazie and Bonnie Benedix of Blue Hill; two sisters, Alma Haynes and Josephine Rhys, both of Deer Isle; a special nephew, Erik Robbins of Deer Isle; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Manford Eaton of Stonington. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Dwight; brother, Ellsbroy; sister, Clara; and son-in-law, Rene Benedix. A graveside service for family and friends will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at Evergreen Cemetery, Deer Isle/ Sunshine, officiated by the Rev. Ron Morris, of Glad Tidings Church, Bangor.
