ELIZABETHTOWN, PA. – Rev. J. William Wartluft, 88, formerly of Kutztown, died May 27, 2005, in the Health Center at The Masonic Home, Elizabethtown, Pa., of natural causes. He was the husband of Ruth D. (Dukes) Wartluft of Elizabethtown. Born in Wernersville, Pa., he was the son of the late William M. and Florence J. (Gerhart) Wartluft. He was a graduate of Wernersville High School in 1935. He was a graduate of the University of Maine with a theological degree in 1967. He was past master of Reading Lodge No. 549 F and AM. He was past commander of Reading Commandery No. 9. He was a member of St. Paul’s U.C.C., Fleetwood, Pa. He was ordained at Hains U.C.C., Wernersville, part of Penn North East Conference of U.C.C. Churches. He served as a minister in many U.C.C. churches in Pennsylvania and Ohio. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Carol A. (Wartluft) Small of Orrington, Myra E. (Wartluft) Coffin of Gray; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; sister, Kathryn (Wartluft) Goldsmith of Wyomissing, Pa. and Irene (Wartluft) Renninger of Wyomissing, Pa. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, in the Sell Memorial Chapel at the Masonic Home, Elizabethtown. Interment will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Reading. Henninger Funeral Home, Inc., is in charge of arrangements.
