FALMOUTH – Rev. Stewart Kimmell Rowley passed away Oct. 29, 2006. Born April 25, 1930, in West Palm Beach, Fla., he was the son of the late Alexander Stewart, who died in 1955 and Nora Eva (Kimmel) Rowley, who died in 1986. He grew up in West Palm Beach, Fla., graduated from Palm Beach High School, Class of 1948; Palm Beach Junior College; received his Bachelor of Science Degree in education from Farmington State Teachers College, Farmington, Class of 1958; and received his Bachelor of Divinity Degree from Bangor Theological Seminary in 1959. He was ordained to the Christian ministry in the United Church of Christ, Lake Worth, Fla., in 1959, where he served as minister of Christian education for two years. Stewart married the former Shirley Alice Collins of Worcester, Mass., Oct. 11, 1958, at Union Congregational Church, West Palm Beach, Fla. He served as minister of First Congregational Church, UCC, Fair Haven, Vt., 1960-1965; minister of Christian education of First Congregational Church UCC, Springfield, Vt., 1965-1973; and minister of First Congregational Church, UCC, Ellsworth, 1973-1988. Stewart was also a member of Eureka Lodge Masonic Order, Fair Haven, Vt., since 1962. He moved to Worcester, Mass., in 1988 and served as interim and supply pastor in various churches in the Worcester, Mass., area and retired to Westbrook in 1998, then moved to Falmouth in 2005. Stewart is survived by his wife, Shirley; and two daughters, Dr. Constance A. (Rowley) Colombo and husband, Daniel T. Colombo and son, Nathan D. Colombo, of White Lake, Mich., and Carol Sue (Rowley) Kloth and husband, David P. Kloth and daughter, Kristen N. Kloth, of Falmouth; sister, Hazel E. Rowley of Falmouth; several nieces, nephews and cousins. His brother, Loren A. Rowley died in June 1987. Calling hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at Jones, Rich and Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at the Falmouth Congregational Church, 267 Falmouth Road, Falmouth.
