BANGOR – Richard D. Drinkwater, 79, died Feb. 27, 2005, at a Bangor healthcare facility. He was born April 5, 1925, in Sebec, the son of the late Zebulon and Stella (Smith) Drinkwater. Richard attended schools in Dover-Foxcroft and graduated from Foxcroft Academy. He served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1943-1945, and received his commission as a pilot. Richard retired from the State of Maine after serving as business manager at Eastern Maine Vocational Technical Institute for 15 years (1970-1984). Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Alice (Higgins) Drinkwater; daughter, Karen L. (Drinkwater) Reynolds and her husband, Wm. Scott Reynolds; grandchildren, Jane Miriam Jacobs of California, Zebulon D. Reynolds and Lora S. Reynolds all of Winterport; sister, Miriam (Drinkwater) Garrett of Bangor; son-in-law, George Jacobs of California. He was predeceased by a son, Gary A. Drinkwater; and a daughter, Lori E. Drinkwater; two siblings, Marcadais Drinkwater Black, and Zebulon D. Drinkwater. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Westgate Manor for the loving care shown to Richard. Services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Mark Fowler, pastor of the Church of the Open Door, Hampden, officiating. Friends may call noon until time of service Thursday.
