NEW BROCKTON, Ala. and MILLINOCKET – Richard Emond, 76, entered into rest Sunday, April 23, 2006, at home with his family at his side. He was the beloved husband of Christina (Gallant) Emond. Dick was born March 4, 1930, in Millinocket, to the late Joseph and Bernice (Downs) Emond. His family moved to Quincy, Mass., where Dick graduated from Quincy High School and became a member of the Naval Reserve. He returned to Millinocket and worked at Great Northern Paper Co., until being called into the Navy. He served during the Korean War from 1951 until 1953. After his honorable discharge, Dick returned to Millinocket. In 1965, he took a job with the Eastman Kodak Company, moving with his family to Rochester, N.Y. In 1990, after 25 devoted years of service, Dick retired to New Brockton, Ala. with his wife. Dick enjoyed golf and playing poker especially in Las Vegas and camping on the Gulf Coast. Dick is survived by his wife of 54 years, Christina Emond. He is also survived by his children, Joseph Emond and his wife, Shannon, of Danbury, Conn., Melissa Cutler and her husband, Brian, of Atlanta, Ga, Jon Emond and his wife, Sukki, of New Brockton, Ala., and Rick Emond of Manchester, N.H.; and Richard’s grandchildren, Ryan and Elliot Emond, Benjamin, Phillip and Gregory Cutler, Jason and Justin Emond and Adam Emond. He also leaves his sisters, Dawn Thompson of Lake George, N.Y. and Judy Chamberlain of Millinocket; brother, Ralph Emond of Raynahan, Mass.; brother-in-law, Joseph Gallant of Saco; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, April 27, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Millinocket Cemetery with military honors.
