OLD TOWN – Richard Freeman “Papa” Thibodeau, 67, passed away peacefully Feb. 12, 2007, at his home. He was born May 12, 1939, in Old Town, the son of Freeman H. and Jeanette (Bailey) Thibodeau. Freeman graduated from Old Town High School, Class of 1964. He married Nancy Costain and together they raised four daughters. Freeman was a lifelong learner of the word of God and celebrated his faith in a very personal way, never wanting to push his beliefs on others. Freeman was a notary public and justice of the peace, and he loved to preside over wedding ceremonies right up until his last days. He often reminisced about times working at Tim’s Store for John Nahra. Freeman enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed camping at Chemo Pond. He loved to play cribbage and poker with his camping family. Freeman also enjoyed playing boombars with his friends. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Gordon and Dennis; and aunts, Dorothy Burr and Amelia Monk. Freeman is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Nancy Thibodeau; daughters, Karen and her husband, Ed LeBreton, Karol and her husband, Sean Murray, and Kelly and her husband, Victor Holmes; grandchildren, Annah Murray and her fiance, John Tardif, John Murray, Josh Webber, Daniel LeBreton and Lauren LeBreton; great-granddaughter, Briannah Tardif; brothers, Ken Thibodeau and his wife, Merlene, and Bob Thibodeau and his wife, Jane; sister, June Costain; special aunt and uncle, Phyllis and Joe Hampel; cousins, Joe Hampel, Ginny Sucy and Barbara Choquette; adopted grandson, Shawn Bo LaBelle; many special nieces and nephews; and many special friends including, Carroll and Jeri Motsinger and Cliff and Joanne Cain. Visiting hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at the funeral home with Pastor Cliff Cain officiating. Family and friends are invited to a reception after the services at St. Ann’s Parish Hall, Bradley. Interment will be in the spring.
