BAILEYVILLE – Richard “Frenchy” Frances Santerre, 72, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, at a Calais hospital. He was born in Quebec, and raised by Emery and Vivian Santerre, who were like a brother and sister to him. Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed by Georgia Pacific for more than 43 years and was a member of their Quarter Century Club. Frenchy was a Communicant of St. James the Greater R.C. Church, Baileyville and enjoyed hunting, keeping up his journal, walking his faithful canine companion, “Jack” and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are his loving wife of more than 20 years, Marlene (Johnson) Santerre; a son, Gary and Becky Santerre of Baileyville; stepchildren, Grace and Mike Stanhope of Bucksport, Donald and Becky Goodwin of Baring and Wendy and John Harmon of Princeton; two grandchildren, nine stepgrandchildren, one great-grandchild, six great-step-grandchildren; and Emery and Vivian Santerre’s children, Carol Sexton of North Carolina, Emery “Tex” and Mary Kay Santerre of Scarborough, Denis and Stella Santerre of Eddington, James and Iola Santerre of Kennebunk and Pat and Philip “Pippy” Dow of Baileyville. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Woodland Cemetery, Baileyville with Fr. Frank Morin officiating. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais.
