ASHLAND – Richard G. Nightingale, 61, died Tuesday morning, Oct. 16, 2007, at Cary Medical Center, Caribou. He was born May 10, 1946, in Presque Isle, the son of Gerald and Eula (McPherson) Nightingale. Richard worked for Aroostook Shoe Co. and Viner Bros. for 25 years, and most recently for SD & L Courier Service of Gardiner for the past nine years. He loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Presque Isle Elks Club for 24 years and a member of the Mapleton ATV Club. Richard is survived by his wife, Sharon (Harris) Nightingale of Ashland; a son, Richard Jr. and his wife, Amy, of Mapleton; two daughters, Dollie Willette of Presque Isle and Jeri Nightingale of Fort Fairfield; two brothers, Edwin Nightingale and his wife, Jean, of Mapleton, and David Night-ingale and his friend, Kathy, of Palm Bay, Fla.; a sister, Barbara Rose and friend, Paul, of Orono; four grandchildren, Taylor Nightingale, Brittney Willette, Jason Willette Jr. and Rhegan McNally; his mother-in-law, Maxine Harris; brother-in-law, Dennis Harris, both of Washburn; and two special friends, Havelock Smith and his friend, Gail, of Mapleton. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with Pastor Brian Haggerty officiating.
