BANGOR – Richard H. Doughty, 82, passed away Oct. 10, 2004. He was born in Bangor, Sept. 29, 1922, the son of Harold and Melda (Nadeau) Doughty. Richard served in the 10th Mountain division in Italy, where he received the Purple Heart for wounds he received. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3381 of Old Town. He was a past commander of the Military Order of Cooties. He was instrumental in forming a military Order of the Purple Heart in Maine. He was also the National Aide for De Camp of the Association for the Purple Heart. He was retired from the University of Maine as a Locksmith for many years. He is survived by his wife Wilma, and four children, Richard and his wife, Sharon, of Levant, Dean and his wife, Krystyna, of Bangor, Sandra and her husband, Dwight McIntosh, of Levant, Karen and her husband, Keith Kenney, of Hudson; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, a sister, Sylvia Collier of California. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor. Friends are invited to meet at the office of the Superintendent.
