LINCOLN and MIMS, Fla. Richard I. Pedley, “Rick,” 51, passed away July 5, 2008, at Massachusetts General Hospital Burns Unit. He succumbed to massive burns suffered in a camp explosion. He was born July 26, 1956, in Lincoln, the son of Richard Y. Pedley and Marjorie (Deveau) Pedley. He graduated from Mattanawcook Academy in 1974 and completed a two-year electrical program at Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute, Presque Isle. He became a member of I.B.E.W. No. 1253 in 1976, where he continued his apprenticeship to become a journeyman electrician and eventually a master electrician. Rick loved life and lived it to the fullest! Whether it was Harley’s, fishing, hunting or spending time with family and friends. Rick always went over and above in everything he did, as in his final act of trying to save his companion, Linda, from the fire. Rick was predeceased by his mother, Marjorie Pedley, March 2, 2007. Rick is survived by his daughter, Sabrina Loeding and her husband, Dan and their son and Rick’s grandson, Trace, of St. Cloud, Fla. Also surviving is his special companion, Linda Smith, of Mims, Fla.; Rick’s dad, Richard Y. Pedley of Lincoln; sisters, Michelle MacDonald and Tyke of Lee, Peggy Smith and Robin Sabol, his twin sister, both of Lincoln; and a brother, William “Billy” Pedley and Angie of Hermon. He also leaves his cat, Bill, who was his buddy. Family and friends are invited to call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Leroy Landry, presiding. Interment will be at Lincoln Cemetery. There will be a gathering to celebrate Rick’s life at his camp on Egg Pond after the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to help the family.
