ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – Richard L. Clark, 61, formerly of Belfast, died unexpectedly March 8, 2006. Dick was born April 4, 1944, in Belfast, the son of Arthur B. Clark and Charlotte I. (Judkins) Clark. He grew up in Belfast, was educated in the Belfast school system and graduated from Maine Central Institute and Bentley College in Massachusetts. After college, Dick returned to Belfast to work with his family at The Clark Agency. Dick later received his real estate broker’s license and sold real estate throughout the mid-coast area. After his father’s death in 1982, Dick took over the real estate portion of The Clark Agency and renamed the company to Clark Real Estate. He was a member of the Rotary Club and the Mid-Coast Board of Realtors. After he sold Clark Real Estate, he retired to enjoy the warm weather in Florida. Dick returned to Maine to take care of his mother after she fell ill. After she passed away, he moved back to Florida. He enjoyed photography, gardening, boating, fishing, computers and fast cars. He owned several speedboats over his short lifetime and had wonderful adventures with his family at sea. He was an avid fisherman and often participated in the Holy Mackerel Tournament held in Belfast harbor. On summer days Dick could be found just outside Belfast bay with his two daughters and his nephew trolling for fish. Dick enjoyed flowers and every year planted annuals throughout his High Street property. He owned and raced a dragster and earned trophies for his top placings. He also owned antique cars and would often enter the cars in the local Fourth of July parade so his girls could throw candy to the crowd. Dick was especially good with computers, often fixing his friends and colleagues computers for free. He loved technology and embraced it with open arms. He was an extremely intelligent man that lived to make a deal. Above all he loved his family. He devoted himself to his two daughters. He was a steadfast figure at all their sporting events. He once traveled the East Coast to go to all his youngest daughter’s college field hockey games. He loved his girls and would have done anything for them. Dick took his family on adventurous trips and taught his daughters the joy of life. Always encouraging and supportive, he was the father everyone wanted as their own. Dick is known by many as a wonderful friend and confidant. He would often lend financial advice and money to friends that had fallen on hard times. He did this out of the kindness of his heart and never expected anything in return. Dick was a patient, kind and loving man that will be sadly missed by many. Dick was predeceased by his parents, Arthur B. Clark and Charlotte I. (Judkins) Clark; several aunts and uncles; and a special nephew that shared the same birthday, Joshua Williams. Survivors include his two daughters, Cassina B. Bilodeau and her husband, Steven Bilodeau and their two sons, Jacob and Ryan and Kristin C. Post and her husband, Shanon Post; his brother, David Clark and wife, Mary Clark and their two daughters, Sherry Flagg and Lisa Cunningham; his nephew, Jacob Ladd and his wife, Wanda Ladd and their two children, Alexandra and Joshua and also numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and many special friends from Maine and Florida.
