ASHLAND – Richard R. Chasse, 76, died Oct. 7, 2007, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born Aug. 17, 1931, in St. Agatha, the son of Ernest and Eva (Michaud) Chasse. He served two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Richard was a life member of VFW LeBlanc-Junkins Post 9699, Ashland. He worked for many years at American Cyamide and Times Wire, Wallingford, Conn. After moving to Maine in 1982 he worked for Pinkham Lumber Mill until he retired in 1993 at the age of 62. He was a communicant of St. Mark Catholic Church, Ashland. Richard loved to hunt, fish, snowmobile and work in his woodshop. His favorite place to go was his hunting camp on the home farm in Wrightville. Richard also loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, all of whom will greatly miss his company and loving ways. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joan (Schinnelly) Chasse of Ashland; one daughter, Roxan Perry and her husband, Chuck, of Fairfield; five sons, Ricky Chasse, Bobby Chasse and his special friend, Becky, Randy Chasse and his wife, Sue, Ray Chasse and his wife, Holly, all of Ashland and Roger Chasse and his wife, Maria, of Meriden, Conn.; one sister, Theresa Casey of Presque Isle; five brothers, Philip Chasse and his wife, Barbara, of Meriden, Conn., Clarence Chasse and his wife, Marie, of Wallingford, Conn., Raymond Chasse and his wife, Fern, Ronald Chasse and his wife, Sharon, all of Portage Lake and David Chasse and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Ashland; 14 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by one sister, Cecile Rafford; two brothers, Ernest Chasse Jr. and Gilbert Chasse. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and noon until time of service Wednesday at St. Mark Catholic Church, Ashland. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
