VEAZIE – Richard Thomas Matthews Sr., 69, a long time resident of Maine, died Friday, May 12, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. He was born July 13, 1936. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors. He belonged to the carpenters Local Union 1996 and served in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his brother, David A. Matthews and wife, Betty, of Ridgecrest, Calif.; children, Victoria Babbin and husband, Richard, of Deerfield, N.H., Laurel Gray and husband, David, of Durham; stepchildren, David Orazio of Bangor, Kathleen Gauthier and husband, Ronald, of Green, Karen Venizelos of Acton, Mass., Andrew Orazio and wife, Taunya, of Bangor, Thomas Orazio of Westfield Mass. Services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, May 18, in the Bethlehem Chapel, St. John’s Episcopal Church, 225 French St., Bangor. The family will receive family and friends after the service in the undercroft of the church.
