JONESPORT – Robert “Bob” Nelson, 62, died unexpectedly Dec. 16, 2006, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. He was born Nov. 15, 1944, in Portland. He spent his earlier years in Portland and Lynn, Mass. He was employed for many years at Clover Cutting Die, Lynn, Mass., until he moved to Jonesport where he vacationed summers and had family. Since then, he had been self-employed and will be best remembered for his woodcarving. He taught at Pleasant River Fish and Game Club for six years and was a member of Penobscot Bay Carvers and Artists Association. He loved teaching and encouraging new artists. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Charlene; her daughter, Nichole Cortright and her friend, Ed Gulowsen and grandchildren, Kayla, Angel and Jessica; daughter, Heidi Alley and granddaughter, Jenna; son and daughter-in-law, David and Robin Nelson and grandchildren, Dylan and Kylee Nelson; mother-in-law and her husband, Rose and Allen Bell; many nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as his extended family at the Eastern Maine Dialysis Center, Ellsworth. John Trapp is among his many special friends. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Ethelyn and Earl Nelson; sister, Dorothy DeMoranville; and a very special aunt and uncle, Ruth and Hilson Beal.
