MILLINOCKET – Rolande M. Franck, 76 years young, left us Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at Millinocket Regional Hospital after a fairly brief illness. She was born in Edmundston, New Brunswick, the youngest child of Emile and Laura (Bouchard) Bard. Anyone that knew her saw the love and pride she held for her family, as well as her nursing profession. She had her own very unique way of making you feel like you were the most important person in her life, thus she was very well suited to her career as a registered nurse for 25 years. She was loved by all who were in her care, and garnered the respect and admiration of her family, co-workers, employers and friends. Her legacy will live on in the compassion, values and ethics she instilled in the 200-plus nurses’ aides that she trained to walk the same halls of the hospital and nursing home that she had; and to administer the compassionate and tender care for which she will always be remembered, and so sadly missed. But if you asked her what role she was most proud of, it would be that of a wife, mother, grandmother and most recently, great-grandmother. She loved each and every one of them whole-heartedly and took pride in their uniqueness and accomplishments. Each one holds special memories of times spent with her, whether it be eating frozen grapes and saltines with real butter, marching behind her in a parade around the house with make shift musical instruments, having her set the buzzer and time them getting dressed, including tying their shoes when it was time to go home, attending their school activities and graduations, or simply sitting on the couch and having her read them stories. She leaves a void in the life of her loving husband of 55 years, Cliff Franck of Millinocket; as well as their five children, Bob and Trese (Ouellette) Franck of Levant, Carl and Marylou (Dentremont) Franck of Millinocket, Mike Franck and his fiance, Teri Grubbs, of Scarborough, Judy and Steve White of Jefferson and Velma and Clint Rudge of Millinocket. She will also be lovingly missed by her eight grandchildren, Jessica and Kyle Reed, Erica and fiance, Mark Bossie, Nate, Holly, Katie, and Michael Franck, Danielle White, Jenessa Willey; and great-grandson, Brayson Evan Reed. Rolande is also survived by a sister, Yolande Thibault and her husband, Lucien, of Florida; and a brother, Roger Bard and his wife, Corine, of Connecticut; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial Mass in celebration of her life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 112 Maine Ave., Millinocket, with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presider. Spring interment will be at Millinocket Cemetery, Millinocket. Gifts in memory of Rolande may be sent to The Alzheimer’s Support Group of Millinocket Regional Hospital, care of Mitzi Paul, 200 Somerset St., Millinocket, ME 04462. Arrangements are by Bouchard – Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket. God must have needed a special angel, because we know he only takes the best. We love you so very much and take comfort in knowing we will always be wrapped in your blanket of love. Online condolences may be placed at www.lamsonfh.com
