GREENBUSH – Robert “Bob” Stitham, 58, passed away unexpectedly Wed-nesday Oct. 5, 2005. He was born Oct. 5, 1947, in Old Town son of the late Gerald Trimm and Edith Smith. Bob was a graduate of Old Town High School and later continued his education in technical schools. He proudly served his country having fought in Vietnam War as a helicopter gunner and mechanic earning a Purple Heart. He worked at various mills in the Old Town area including, Eastern Fine Paper, St. Regis Stud Mill and four years shy of retiring from Georgia Pacific in Old Town after 14 years of service. Bob’s family was most important to him as he will be fondly remembered for his love that was so unconditionally displayed. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and he enjoyed teaching his sons and neighborhood kids to do so responsibly. He is survived and will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 32 years, Valerie; son, Sheldon, of Howland; his “one and only special granddaughter,” Laciee Mae Stitham; brother, Elden and his wife, Brenda, of Glenburn; brother, Richard and his wife, Linda, of Holden; brother, Martin and his wife, Marie, of Milford; brother, Thane and his wife, Karen, of Milford; many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his “best friend and dog, Vinney”. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Bruce Allan Stitham. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where the funeral will take place at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Ron Chaffee officiating. Committal will be at Lawndale Cemetery in Old Town following the service.
