ORLAND – Robert “Bobby” Sanborn Jr., 61, passed away peacefully Jan. 31, 2007, at his home, after a long battle with cancer. He was born April 20, 1945, in Belfast, son of Lydia G. (Shaw) and Robert L. Sanborn Sr. An avid hunter and sportsman; he was a registered master Maine guide and owned Meadow Mountain Guide Service. He retired Dec. 31, 2001, from International Paper Co., Bucksport, after 38 years of service. He was a member of the Rising Sun Masonic Lodge No. 71 AF & AM of Orland, the Scottish Rites, Valley of Portland and Bangor, the Hancock County Shrine Club and the Anah Temple Shrine, Bangor. The joys of his life were his grandchildren and hunting and he will be sadly missed by his friends and family. Bobby is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jill (Leach) Sanborn of Orland; his children, David Sanborn and his wife, Kim, of Orland and Lisa Sanborn-Gray and her husband, Bill, of Verona Island; his mother, Gerry Harriman of Orland; his grandchildren, Samantha Sanborn, Heather Sanborn and Cody Gray; brothers and sisters, Rose Hamm of Waterville, Paul Sanborn and his wife, Kathy, of South Carolina, Janice MacDonald and Joel Wardwell of Bucksport, Raymond Fogg and his wife, Dawn, of Glenburn, Ruthann Luttrell and her husband, Mark, of Orland, Nikki Smith and her husband, Alan, of Orland, Cecelia Ames and her husband, Rusty, of Verona, Terry Harriman and his wife, Heather, of Orland, Garry Harriman and his wife, Kathy, of Bucksport and Alice Davis and her husband, Jim, of Orland; several nieces and nephews; many special friends including, Bruce Snowman of Stockton Springs. He was predeceased by his father, Robert L. Sanborn Sr.; and his stepfather, Gilman Harriman. A celebration of Bobby’s life will be held 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be 4 p.m. until time of service.
