HERMON – Robert E. Treworgy, beloved husband of Grace (Carlisle) Treworgy, died July 25, 2007, after a long illness. He was born Dec. 1, 1924, in Bangor, the son of Lawrence L. Treworgy and Laura (Crafts) Treworgy. He was a 1942 graduate of Bangor High School and a 1948 graduate of Husson College. Robert was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the 106 Infantry. After college, he worked briefly for Tidewater Oil and in 1948 he founded Bangor Neon, which he operated until his retirement in 1980. Robert was a member of All Souls Congregational Church of Bangor, Rising Virtue Lodge No. 10 AF & AM of Bangor, Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Bangor, Maine Consistory 32nd Degree, and Anah Shriners A.A.O.N.M.S. of Bangor. He loved boating, traveling and snowmobiling with his loving wife of 63 years. Surviving in addition to his wife, Grace, are one daughter, Gayle (Treworgy) Hansen and her husband, Joel D. Hansen, all of Hermon; a son, Robert C. Treworgy and his wife, Sherill A. Treworgy, both of Hampden; two granddaughters, Kristin L. Hanegan and her husband, Jason S. Hanegan, and Ansley G. Hansen, all of Hermon; two grandsons, Robert C. Treworgy of Bangor and Michael Cash Treworgy of Hampden; a great-grandson, Cooper Hanegan; a sister-in-law, Blodwen Treworgy of Brewer; several nieces and nephews. A special part of the family are Nicole and Peter Hoglund and their three sons. He was predeceased by a brother, Lawrence L. Treworgy Jr. The family expresses their gratitude to the people who supported Bob’s stay at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor and at St. Joseph Hospital, Bangor. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 6-8 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 30, with the Rev. Dr. James L. Haddix, pastor and teacher of All Souls Congregational Church, officiating.
