BROOKS – Robert H. Curtis, 87, of Brooks, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, at a local hospital. He was born in Jackson, Dec. 6, 1918, the son of Albert and Arlettie (Hamlin) Curtis and lived most of his life in the Brooks area. He served with the U.S. Air Force in World War II, during which time he met and married his wife, Ellen (Miller) Curtis in El Paso, Texas. He was a timekeeper for the Searsport Docks for many years before retiring. Robert loved to tell jokes, spend time with his grandkids, collect bottles and play the violin. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Judith Curtis; a son, Richard Curtis; five sisters and six brothers. He is survived by his wife, Ellen Curtis, of Brooks; two children, Joyce Carson and husband, Raymond, of Troy and David B. Curtis and wife, Carol, of Belfast; three brothers, Irving, Sherman and Francis Curtis; six grandchildren, Robert O. Curtis and wife, Kristi, Darrell Curtis and wife, Mary, April Lavin, Sarah Kenney and husband, Phil, Richard Curtis Jr. and wife, Darcy and Travis Carson; and 10 great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to call 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast. Interment will take place at Maine Veterans’ Cemetery in the spring.
