ABBOT – Robert H. Thomas, 58, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at his home, after a brief illness. He was born April 25, 1945, at Mayo Regional hospital in Dover-Foxcroft. He attended grade schools in Manchester, Conn. and attended Sanford High School and graduated in 1964. He joined the Navy shortly after graduation and served on the U.S.S. Enterprise during the Vietnam War. Robert worked for the Charles A. Dean Memorial Hospital in Greenville. He formerly worked at Sprague Electric of Sanford and lived in Shapleigh. Robert Married Linda Clark of Shapleigh and later moved to Abbot. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed 4-wheeling with his wife, Linda and their two dogs and enjoyed the view of Russell Mountain from his home. Robert and Linda enjoyed working together especially with their lawn and garden upkeep. Surviving him is his wife, Linda; four children, Robert E. Thomas and his wife, Amy and their children, Brianna and Melissa, Sheila Thomas of Shapleigh, Judy and Mike Robert of California, James and Heather Thomas and children, Parker and Emma, of Washington State, and a stepdaughter, Sherry and Ritchie Hall of North Berwick and their children, Jason and Shelby. He is also survived by his parents, Virginia and Carrolous Verrill of Shapleigh; a brother, Donald Thomas of Abbot and his children, Donna Basinger of Alfred, Donald Thomas of Shapleigh and Barbara Sleeper of Springvale and their five grandchildren; Donald Thomas’ stepson, Skippy Leathers; and an aunt Grace Delmont of Brighton, Colo. He was predeceased by his father, Blair C. Thomas and an infant son, Robbie. Robert will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. There will be no funeral but a private family memorial service will be held in the spring.
