LINCOLN and BREWER – Robert J. “Bob” Ciarrocchi, 90, passed away May 21, 2005, at home with his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Bob was born Jan. 15, 1915, in East Millinocket, the son of Nicholas and Casilde (Massaroni) Ciarrocchi. Bob served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a radio operator with the 771st Tank Destroyer Battalion and was an expert marksman. Bob was a turbine engineer at Lincoln Pulp and Paper Company, retiring in 1990 at age 75 after 42 years. An accomplished athlete, Bob played semi-pro baseball and coached the American Legion baseball team in Lincoln for many years. Bob also won numerous candlepin bowling awards, as well as enjoying golf and fishing. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Yvonne; two sons, Peter of Monterey, Calif., Paul of Brewer; one daughter-in-law and “Best Buddy” Teri of Brewer; two granddaughters, Amee Ciarrocchi of Chicago, Ill., Heather Ippolito and her husband, James, of Homewood, Ill.; three great-grandchildren, Tessa Ippolito, Joey Ippolito, Noah Ippolito, all of Homewood, Ill.; two brothers, Vitale Ciarrocchi, Gene and his wife, Hilda Ciarrocchi, all of East Millinocket. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Carolyn Ciarrocchi. Private graveside services will be held at East Millinocket Cemetery.
