MILFORD and EAST BRIDGE-WATER, MASS. – Robert L. Spencer Jr., 57, husband of Pauline (Smart) Spencer, died unexpectedly Nov. 14, 2004, in Milford. He was born May 16, 1947, in Bangor, the son of Robert L. and Grace A. (LeClaire) Spencer Sr. Robert was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam and was awarded a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was known to be a browser and a shopper, he loved cooking and he adored his grandchildren. In addition to his wife of East Bridgewater, Mass. and his mother, Grace A. Oakes of Holden; are four children, Melanie Silvia and her husband, Joshua, Brian Spencer and his wife, Susan, Kelly Phillips and her husband, Derek and Mandy Spencer, all of East Bridgewater, Mass.; seven grandchildren, Marisa, Kyle, Stephen, Cassie, Katie, Dean and Brady; three brothers, Richard Spencer and his wife, Frances, of Palmyra, Tenn., Michael Spencer and his wife, Una, of Holden and Randy Spencer of East Bridgewater, Mass.; two sisters, Mary White of Lincoln and Lisa Bowen and her husband, Troy, of Otis; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father and by his maternal grandmother, Myrtle Spencer in 2003. A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Wednesday at Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer, where friends may visit from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. The Rev. Dr. Jerry Mick, pastor of the Bangor Baptist Church will officiate and burial will be at a later date in Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to a charity of choice.
