MILLINOCKET – Robert M. Bouchard, 73, passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, after a courageous battle with respiratory disease (COPD). He was born Nov. 21, 1931, in Millinocket, the son of Lawrence and Martha (Sirois) Bouchard. A lifelong resident of Millinocket, Bob graduated from Stearns High School, Class of 1949. He then joined the U.S. Navy where he proudly served his country from 1950-1954. Bob returned to Millinocket where he would work for 32 years for Great Northern Paper Company, retiring as a millwright in 1995. His family and friends remember him for his love of barbecues and all the gatherings they would create. R.M.B. enjoyed fishing, playing poker with his buddies, and picking strawberries and blueberries. His delight in his later years was following his grandchildren’s sporting events, and tending to his garden. He was a lifelong member of B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 1521, Millinocket, a member of Carpenters and Joiners Local No. 658, and a member of the VFW. Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Patricia (Alward) Bouchard of Millinocket; three sons, Martin and wife, Sharon, of Belfast, N.Y., Stephen and wife, Carolyn, of Millinocket, and Keith of Millinocket; three daughters, Karen and husband, Herman Morrow of Millinocket, Kathryn and husband, Roch Gallant, of Bangor, and Kim and husband, Jeffrey Smart, of Skowhegan; his grandchildren, Adam, Scott, Ryan “Rizz”, Terran, Corey, Tiffany and husband, Adam, Dustin, Emily, Kayla, Joshua, Andrew, Nicholas, and Brooke; his great-grandchildren, Jordan, Maryssa, and Wyatt; his siblings, Gilbert “Bee” Bouchard, Sister Edwina Bouchard, and Bunny and husband, Peter Pray, also nieces and nephews. At Bob’s request, there will be no visiting hours. Friends and family are invited to a graveside service 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at Millinocket Cemetery. The Rev. Matthew McDonald will officiate. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life gathering at Francis E. Elliott Post No. 4154, VFW, Oxford Street, Millinocket. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob’s memory may be made to the Katahdin Area Support Group, 10 Field St., Millinocket, ME 04462 or to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, care of Maine Medical Center, 22 Bramhall St., Portland, ME 04102.
