HOULTON – Robert Madigan Lawlis, 85, died Aug. 2, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. He was born April 19, 1921, in Houlton, the son of Robert M. and Alice (Madigan) Lawlis. Robert served in the U.S. Army Signal Corp during World War II. He was a graduate of Bowden College with a bachelor’s degree in physics and mathematics and Boston University with a degree in criminal justice. Robert was an attorney in the Houlton area for many years. He is survived by three children, Robert M. Lawlis of Hampden, Jonathan R. Lawlis of California and Catherine M. Haugin; six grandchildren; and one sister, Joan Whittier Lawlis of Houlton. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Dunn Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
