ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. and LEVANT – Robert M. Whidden, 79, died Oct. 7, 2006, at a health care facility in Dade City, Fla. He was born Nov. 19, 1926, in Sherbrooke, Nova Scotia, the son of the late John and Anna (Murdoch) Whidden and moved to Florida from Maine in 1995. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Solomon’s Temple Lodge, AF & AM of Uxbridge, Mass., Knights Templar Commandery of Pawtucket, R.I., Eureka Royal Arch Chapter of Worcester, Mass., and Anah Shriners of Bangor. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Whidden of Zephyrhills, Fla.; daughter, Carol Scorzelli of Hudson, Mass.; step-daughter, Evelyn Beaulieu of Orono; stepsons, Raymond Higgins of Derry, N.H., Dean Higgins of Portland, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Gloria Wilson of Edmonton, Alberta; brother, Kenneth Whidden of Auburn, Mass.; and one aunt, Jean Bulpin of Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jean Whidden; and his brother, Graham Whidden. A service of remembrance will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with Pastor Rick Lambert, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, immediately after the service.
