E. HODGDON and TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Robert V. Gildard, 81, a disabled American veteran, died July 21, 2004, in Lake City, Fla. He was born July 29, 1922, at Houlton, the son of Leland and Alta (Wilcox) Gildard. Robert served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Portland. He was formerly of Houlton, and had been a resident of Tallahassee, Fla., for the past three years. He is survived by five sisters, Edith Barfield of Tallahassee, Fla., Roberta “Cookie” Boulet of Vidor, Texas, Pauline Anderson of Alta Loma, Calif., June Wilmot and Emily Chandler, both of Portland; two brothers, Arthur Gildard of Brockton, Mass., Elwyn Gildard of California; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; five brothers, Earl, Roland, John, Ervin and Ellery Gildard; a sister, Ervena “Patty” Proctor. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Dunn Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, at the East Hodgdon Cemetery, with the Rev. Scott Taylor officiating.
