CORINNA – Rodney L. Knowles, 87, husband of Ethelyn French Knowles, passed away Oct. 22, 2006, surrounded by his family at a Bangor hospital. He was born Aug. 26, 1919, was a life-long Corinna resident and wintered in Zephyrhills, Fla. Rodney was a graduate of Corinna Union Academy. He was stationed in India with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed as plant manager at Snowflake Canning Co., Corinna. After the fire that destroyed the business, he returned to work for the Town of Corinna on the road crew. He enjoyed many years of owning and piloting planes. He was also an amateur golfer and a self-taught computer guru. In addition to his wife, Ethelyn and her three children and their families, three daughters and their families survive him, Mari-Lee and Lee Rockwell of Bedford, Texas, Carol Ann and Bill Brooks of Brewer and Susan Mathews of Tucson, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Jennifer and John Ludlow, Kristen and Paul Lofgren, Stacey and Kelly Rhyne, Amy and Allan Tetreault, Robert and Allison Barclay and Kristen Barclay; and 28 great-grand-children. Ethelyn’s children include, Dan and Lucy French, Ron and Roberta French and Don and Linda Lipp, all of whom reside in Missouri. He is survived by one sister, Betty Rich of Detroit, along with nieces, a nephew and cousins. His wife of 58 years, Hazel E. Knowles; a brother, Gerald; and sister, Caroline predeceased him. After a private graveside service Wednesday, Oct. 25, at Corinna Center Cemetery, the family invites you to remember Rodney by joining them for refreshments 2:30 p.m. at the Corinna Methodist Church annex.
