SHERMAN – Rodney L. Lane Sr., 65, beloved husband of Joanne (Thompson) Lane, went to be with the Lord, May 14, 2007, after a battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 17, 1942, in Sherman, the son of the late Norman and Myrtle (Dunphy) Lane. He worked on dairy farms for several years and worked in the woods with his brothers. He then went on his own with his sons until becoming disabled. He also enjoyed camping throughout the years and making woodcrafts. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Joanne (Thompson) Lane; a very special granddaughter, Brooke Lane of Sherman; four sons, Vernon Lane and wife, Misty, of Sherman, Scott Lane of Virginia, Jimmy Lane and wife, Jessica, of Portage, and Rodney L. Lane Jr. of Portland; three daughters, Samantha and husband, Scott Allen, of Ashland, Cindy and husband, Blaine Day, and Debbie Brackett and companion, Barry, all of Medway; six brothers, Richard and wife, Diane, Phillip “Chip” and wife, Ruth, Ralph and wife, Stella, Charles and wife, Bonnie, Douglas and wife, Denise, and Terry and wife, Tracy, all of Sherman; one sister, Beverly and husband, Cedric Knox, of Houlton; 23 grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Macy, Chantel, Dawson, Kesha, Brooke, James “Bub,” Mariah, Autumn, Tabitha, Dickie, Heather, Caleb, Tessa, Shelby, Sheila, Terri, Dawn, Joey, Bryttani, Kasi, Mandi and Katerina; 12 great-grandchildren, Traci, Colby, Dylan L., Emily, Courtney, Shayden, Robbie, Dylan II, Tyler John, Tyrone, Tristan and Kyle; special friends, Bridge and Ella Astle of Stacyville, Mike and Roberta Heath of Patten; special nephew and niece, Jeff and Tyra Lane of Bristol, Va. He was predeceased by a daughter, Sheila; grandson, Little Rodney; brothers, George and Everett. Friends may call 11 a.m.- noon Thursday, May 17, at Washburn Memorial Church, Sherman, where funeral services will be held noon Thursday with the Rev. Regginal Adams officiating.
