LEVANT – Roger Merle Dorr, 64, passed away peacefully April 10, 2007, surrounded by his family, at his mother’s home in Bangor. Roger was born Aug. 15, 1942, in Bath, the son of Maxwell and Jean (Bowden) Dorr. Roger graduated from Bangor High School in 1962, and then joined the U.S. Army. He worked at St. Joseph Hospital for 28 years in the maintenance department finishing his career at the hospital as maintenance supervisor. Roger had a great passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles and muscle cars, his favorite being his 1970 Chevelle. He also enjoyed the Red Sox, watching NASCAR races and his dog, Duchess. Roger is survived by his mother, Jean Dorr of Bangor; one son, Robert M. Dorr and Debbie Whitman of Holden; two sisters, Sheila Hamilton and her husband, George, of Augusta and Sandra Preble and her husband, Kenneth, of Hampden; two aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Roger also leaves behind a special friend and caretaker who helped him through his illness, Steve “Pelly” Pelletier and many close friends, too numerous to mention. Roger was predeceased by his father, Maxwell in 1971; and an infant son, Randy in 1968. The family thanks Dr. Daly at Veterans’ Administration Clinic, Bangor; St. Joseph Healthcare and Hospice; and CancerCare of Maine. A service of remembrance and thanksgiving for Roger’s life will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, with the Rev. Peter Remmick officiating. Family and friends may visit 10 a.m. until time of service 11 a.m. Friday. Interment later in the spring will be at Locust Grove Cemetery, Hampden.
