BELFAST – Roger Miller Patten, 68, of Belfast, son of Donald Irving and Alice (Miller) Patten, died June 6, 2005, after a long illness. Roger was born May 27, 1937. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1958. Upon leaving the service he became a pipe fitter and then hydraulic technician for Northern Chemical and St. Regis/Champion Paper companies. In 1985 he became self employed starting Patten Construction until his retirement in 1998. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved wildlife and watching his birds. Roger is survived by his wife, Janette of Belfast, his children and grandchildren, son, Roger and wife, Patty Barclay and their children, Jason and Tara, all of Buffalo, N.Y.; son, Scott M. Patten and companion, Lynn Chorney and their children, Peter and Ian Patten and Jes Chorney of Belfast; and daughter, Beth Patten and her daughter, Sarah of Belfast. He is also survived by 11 brothers and sisters, Norma and husband, Curtis Weirs of New York, Donald and wife, Jeanne of Northport, Shirlene and husband, Frank Coombs of Hamden, Howard and wife, Beverly of Camden, Wayne and wife, Leah of Lincolnville, John and wife, Pat, of Northport, Keith and wife, Pricilla, of Hope, Mona Mosher of New Hampshire, Sandra and husband, Russell Woorster of New Hampshire, Betty Opp of Colorado, Dwight and wife, Diane of Lincolnville; and many, many nieces and nephews. Roger was predeceased by his parents, four brothers and one sister, Richard, Allen, Peter, Wylie and Marjorie Dunton. There will be a memorial service at Roger’s home, 2 p.m. Saturday, June 25. Family and friends are invited to make donations to either the American Heart & Lung Assoc. or the American Diabetes Assoc.
